HERO STORIES

Meet Christopher Wolff

Chris Wolff joined the military after 9/11 and deployed many times around the world including Iraq, Afghanistan, Thailand, and Antarctica.  Shortly after receiving the Influenza vaccine in November 2008, he woke up paralyzed from the neck down. The virus from the shot had attacked the myelin sheath of his spinal column.  Chris was told that he would never eat, drink, walk, or do anything on his own ever again. It has taken him years to fight back, years to find the faith that he questioned in that moment.  Chris has been able to take his service well beyond the uniform that he still wears on his heart every minute of every day.

Meet Jake Murphy

Following graduation from West Point in May of 2009, Jake Murphy was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant into the infantry branch of the Army, sending him to Fort Benning, GA where he completed the Infantry Officers Basic Course, Airborne School, and Ranger School.  After leaving Georgia, Jake deployed from Fort Drum, NY to Afghanistan.  Four months into the deployment Jake was injured from a blast from an Improvised Explosive Device.  As a result of the blast, Jake lost both of his legs and went into a coma for a month. He had to learn how to use his prosthetics as the explosion caused him to become a bilateral amputee dealing with amputations with one being above and the other below his knee. Jake currently works for Lockheed Martin as a Program Manager – PAC-3 Flight Testing & Integration Programs in Fort Worth.
